blog

here you can find my ramblings..

Saturday, the twenty-seventh of June

so it has been a very long month

I haven't done anything creative to speak of.

one of my best friends passed away on the twenty-second of May. He was 36. This has been the hardest loss of my life until now. he was such a freaking light of a person, and waking up everyday in a world where he no longer exists has felt very lonely.

we were supposed to have so many more memories together.

we were supposed to be at eachother's weddings.

Wednesday, the sixth of May

so today I added star pixels! I make all of my pixels using the pixquare app on my iPad. back in the day, in the long-long-ago, I used to use MS paint and Adobe Photoshop 7. I'm not necessarily as good at these things as I once was, but maybe with time I'll become better. The stars are currently, as I write this, featured on my about me page.
rainbow star :)

I think my next grafic endeavor will be either bouncy dots, or emoticons. I should make a page to feature all of my pixels on, but right now IA don't feel as though I have enough for all that.

Today at my place of work, a bar, we will be celebrating five years in business! I was there before they opened as a friend of the owners, hanging out late at night during the 2020 pandemic while they were building the bar. At the time, I worked at another business about a block away. The business I worked at was able to be open during the pandemic, because while we were a tasting room, we also sold bottles for off-premesis consumption. I started working with my current employer about three years ago now. I unfortunately had had to leave the alcohol industry for a while, as I was drinking too much, and making poor choices. My relationship with my boss at the tasting room had also soured, so I got outa there, and went back to barista-ing at a local cafe in my home town, which I very much loved and felt appreciated at. After a time, I visited my friends at my current bar, and was offered a shift once a week because they needed help, and I took it! That one shift a week got my foot back in the door of bartending, my true love of work, and I have been there since. Unfortunately, the cafe I worked at was for sale when I started there, and after a couple years, once the business sold, I no longer enjoyed working at it. A boss can really make or break a place, ya know? And the boss that hired me was phenomenal, while the couple that purchased the business were... just not my vibe. So, after giving them a good six months of effort trying to adapt, I decided we were a bad fit and quit, and picked up more hours at my friends' bar. Last year, one of the girls I met at the cafe started her own coffee business, a mobile coffee trailer, and I started helping her out on my days off from the bar in her coffee trailer! Now, she has the opportunity to share a space with an icecream shop that's opening in a nearby town! Truly exciting! So I'll be happily helping her out when she opens!

I feel as though I got off track. Today, we celebrate 5 years of Roxy's! I was there before they opened, but I have only been employed there about three years. Happy Birthday Roxy's! I love serving you, and I'm grateful to bartend today for the five year celebration!

Saturday, the second of May

There! I installed a new font to my site, and applied it to the date, so now the date is all on one line even for wednesday the twenty-ninth. lol. I also could have just made my courier font smaller there, but now I learned how to add custom fonts, so it was a worthwhile endeavor.

Friday, the first of May

This is an example of what a blog entry might look like, if I were writing one.

Wednesday, the twenty-ninth of April

I am curious if today's date fits in the date format I prefer...

It doesn't look like it does. but maybe I'll change the date format? or maybe I'll make this box wider? or maybe, I'll just ignore the ocd that wants there to be only one line on the "date" line of my blog posts... hmmmm
